The Houston Chronicle offers an inside look at the opening of Montrose Country Club, the latest venture from nightlife visionary Jeff Harmon—and one that redefines what a “country club” can be. Located at 202 Tuam St., this newly built, multi-million-dollar destination fuses a chef-driven restaurant, cocktail program, and 65-foot pool into a single, seamless experience—open to the public, no membership required.

The concept’s name is both homage and irony. Inspired by The Country Club in New Orleans, Harmon designed Montrose Country Club as a play on elevated leisure that welcomes everyone—“Upscale, not uptight” as he puts it. Lounge chairs, fire pits, chilled summer water, and warm winter dips create a Palm Springs-meets-Palm Beach setting that fits right into the heart of Montrose.

At the helm of the kitchen is Chef Diego Chiarello, a Sicily-born talent who previously appeared on Food Network and created the menu for Rich’s Houston. His offerings here blend Italian, Cajun, and Southern influences—think shrimp ceviche, fried goat cheese balls, chicken piccata, and French onion meatloaf. A rotating cast of comfort-forward dishes and a dedicated poolside menu complete the culinary experience.

Pool access starts at $20/day, with memberships available for those seeking VIP perks. But the heart of the space is its accessibility: a place for locals to unwind, dine, sip, and gather.

As the communications partner for projects shaping Houston’s hospitality identity, SULLTRAIN is proud to support Montrose Country Club’s launch—and its role in redefining neighborhood luxury for a new generation.
