Houston Chronicle Features Perseid Earning Michelin Recommended Status in 2025 Guide
The Houston Chronicle announced that Perseid, the acclaimed restaurant at Hotel Saint Augustine, earned Michelin Recommended status in the 2025 Michelin Guide for Texas, marking a significant achievement for chef Aaron Bludorn's France-meets-Gulf Coast concept less than a year after opening.
The Chronicle's coverage of Tuesday night's ceremony at Houston's Wortham Theater Center reveals that Perseid was among the new additions to Michelin's Texas selection, which recognized 140 restaurants across the state. According to Michelin, Recommended restaurants offer "high-quality dining" that represents exceptional culinary experiences.
This marks only the second year that Michelin has assessed Texas restaurants, following the guide's debut in the state last fall. The 2025 selection saw 18 restaurants earn one Michelin star (the guide's highest award), 52 receive Bib Gourmand status for good meals at reasonable prices, and 70 designated as Recommended—including Perseid.
The recognition validates Perseid's distinctive approach to French bistro cuisine filtered through a Houston lens. As the Chronicle previously reported, chef Aaron Bludorn designed Perseid as "a bistro through the eyes of Houston" that's "rooted in French cuisine with nods to Houston's culture throughout."
Perseid represents chef Bludorn's fourth Houston restaurant and opened in January 2025 at Hotel Saint Augustine in Montrose. The restaurant has quickly established itself as a dining destination, blending French culinary technique with Gulf Coast ingredients and Texas hospitality in an intimate setting just steps from the Menil Collection.
